Bu çalışma, sosyoloji ile tasavvuf gibi ilk bakışta ayrışık görünen, biri toplumu ‘anlama’yı amaçlayan, diğeri manevî ‘arınma’yı hedefleyen iki disiplini ilişkilendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bunun için ‘sosyoloji tasavvufa nasıl uzanabilir’ ve ‘tasavvuf sosyolojiye nasıl yönelebilir’ sorularına cevap aranmış; sonuç olarak ‘modern toplumların eleştirel analizi’ ve ‘tasavvufun toplumsal gerçekliği’ olmak üzere iki yol üzerinden sosyolojinin tasavvufla bağlantı kurabileceği, tasavvufun ise özündeki manevî yönelişin açtığı pencereden topluma bakarak sosyolojik değerlendirmeler yapabileceği ileri sürülmüştür

This study aims to relate two disciplines like Sociology and Sufism that seem different at first sight, and one of them seeks to understand the society and the other aims the spiritual purification. For this, it has been searched an answer to 'how can Sociology extend to Sufism' and 'how Sufism can direct to Sociology’ questions. Consequently, it has been suggested that Sociology can connect with Sufism through two ways as 'critical analysis of modern societies' and 'social reality of Sufism' and Sufism can make sociological evaluations by looking at the society from the window opened by the spiritual orientation in its essence
