EXAMINATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EMOTIONAL DIVORCE AND DEMOGRAPHIC VRIABLES AND JOB BURNOUT OF MARRIED EMPLOYEES

Investigating family problems holds great importance for every society. Interpersonal relationships in society are dependent on the relationships established within the family. When the foundation of the family institution is shaken, the foundations of the entire social and moral system can be affected, leading to serious issues such as emotional divorce in our society. Emotional divorce, which is increasingly prevalent, is considered a temporary stage within the context of formal divorce processes in the literature. In order to understand the growing phenomenon of emotional divorce in Muslim countries where formal divorce is challenging, it is important to explore its underlying causes. Accordingly, the aim of this research is to examine the relationships between personal variables, job burnout, and emotional divorce among married employees in a company. The analyses conducted revealed a positive relationship between emotional divorce and job burnout, duration of marriage and employment, but no significant relationship with age. Additionally, while emotional divorce differs based on gender, it does not differ based on educational level as well as interaction of the both variables. Based on the analysis results, it is possible to develop appropriate actions and strategies to prevent the negative consequences of emotional divorce. In this context, there is a need for conceptual and empirical research on emotional divorce, which is not adequately addressed in the literature. As part of the practical recommendations, including coping strategies and actions against burnout in psychoeducation programs, as well as awareness-raising activities targeting women in the workplace, elder married individuals, and employees with high tenure, would contribute significantly.
