YABANCI DİL ÖĞRETİMİNDE KÜLTÜR AKTARIMI: FRANSIZ DİLİ ÖRNEĞİ

Yabancı dil bilmek günümüzde bir zorunluluk haline gelmiştir. Dil öğrenmenin temel amacı, bu dili konuşan kişilerle iletişim kurabilmektir. Konuşma ve anlama üzerine kurulu iletişim yetisini kullanabilmek için, etkileşime girilen kişilerin sözel olmayan mesajlarını da anlayabilmek gerekmektedir. Zira dil sadece dilbilgisi kurallarından ibaret değildir, her toplumun içinde oluşturduğu farklı bileşenleri de kapsamaktadır. Tarihten siyasete, ekonomiden mizaha kadar birçok farklı boyutu kapsayan bu bileşenler, toplumun kültürel değerlerini oluşturmaktadır. Ülkemizde yabancı dil öğretiminde, hedef kültür aktarımının yeterli düzeyde olmadığı görülmektedir. Metot kitaplarında verilen örnekler ve eğitmenlerin hedef kültür ile ilgili yaklaşımları bu noktada önem taşımaktadır. Bu çalışma yabancı dil olarak Fransızca öğrenen öğrencilerin, hedef kültür ile ilgili bilgilerini ölçmek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu çalışmada, Fransızca hazırlık sınıf öğrencilerine tek açık uçlu soru yöneltilmiştir. Verilerin analizi, alınan cevaplar üzerinden temalara ayrılmış ve raporlaştırılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonunda öğrencilerin, öğrenmekte oldukları Fransız kültürü ile ilgili kalıplaşmış bilgilere sahip oldukları ve söz konusu kültürü yeteri kadar tanımadıkları gözlemlenmiştir.

The Culture Transfer In Foreign Language Teaching: French Language Example

In today’s conditions, knowing a foreign language became an obligation. The principal aim of learning a foreign language is to communicate with the persons who speak the socalled language. To realise the communication ability that is centred on speaking and comprehension, it is necessary to understand the non-verbal messages of the persons interacted. As the language is not composed of only the grammar, it includes different components by the members of each social group. These components that contain various dimensions from history to politics, from economy to humour, from religion to art, etc. constitute the cultural values of each society. In our country, it is seen that the cultural transfer in foreign language teaching is not enough. At this point, the examples given in method books and treatments, the approaches of instructors are very important. This study aims to determine the knowledge about the target culture of the students who learn French as a foreign language. In this qualitative study, one open ended question is asked to the preparatory school students. The analysis is done by the thematic that are composed of the given responses and the findings are reported. At the end of the study, it is observed that the students have stereotypes for the target culture French culture and they don’t have sufficient knowledge about this culture
