EndoVac, ultrasonik ve manuel aktivasyon tekniklerinin kök kanallarından kalsiyum hidroksit uzaklaştırılmasındaki etkinliklerinin karşılaştırılması

Amaç: Bu çalışmanın amacı, EndoVac, pasif ultrasonik ve manuel aktivasyonun kök kanallarından Ca(OH)2'in uzaklaştırılmasındaki etkinliğinin değerlendirilmesidir.

Comparison of efficacy of EndoVac, ultrasonic and manual agitation techniques on the

Aim: The aim of this study is to compare the efficacy of EndoVac, ultrasonic and manual agitation techniques on the removal of calcium hydroxide from root canals. Materials and Methods: Fifty five palatal roots of maxillary molars were used. The roots were prepared to size #45 with step-back technique. Then, root canals were filled with a radiopaque Ca (OH)2 paste by using lentulo spiral. The samples were stored 100% humidity and at 37oC for 1 week. For the removing of calcium hydroxide from root canals 3 different irrigation techniques were used. In group 1 (n=15) K-files with the same size of master apical file (MAF) was used with 5.25% NaOCl by syringe injection. Group 2 (n=15) was irrigated with passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) and group 3 (n=15) was irrigated with EndoVac system. In negative control group (n=5) samples were without Ca(OH)2 placement and in positive control group (n=5) Ca(OH)2 was not removed. Radiographies were taken before and after the application of three techniques. The percentage of remaining Ca(OH)2 was evaluated with ImageJ Software. Data were statistically evaluated using Kruskal Wallis test and Dunn's multiple comparison tests. Significance level was set at p<0.05. Results: In all groups, the amount of remaining Ca(OH)2 in the apical part of the samples was statistically more than coronal and middle parts (p=0.0001). At the apical part, there was a significant difference between the groups in the percentage of remaining Ca(OH)2 (p=0.045). PUI was found statistically more efficient in removing Ca(OH)2 than manual agitation (p<0.05). There was no significant difference between PUI and EndoVac system. Conclusions: None of the techniques removed the Ca(OH)2 dressing completely. PUI and EndoVac system was effective in removing Ca(OH)2 from the apical part of the root canals.
