Comparison of cyclic fatique resistance of BT-Race and HyFlex CM instruments
Aim: The aim of this study is to compare the cyclic fatique resistance of HyFlex CM and BT-Race.Materials and Methods: Two types of NiTi instruments with similar size 35, .04 taper and 25 mm length with triangular cross-section were selected: BT-Race and HyFlex CM. Totally thirty-six files were tested in a stainless steel block with a 1,5 mm-wide simulated canal with a curvature of 45o and a radius of 5 mm. The time to fracture was recorded in seconds for each instrument and the number of cycles to failure was calculated. Data were analyzed with t-test and p<0,05 was considered to be statistically significant. Results: The number of cycles to failure for HyFlex CM (532.36±76.60) was significantly higher than BT-Race (294.72±66.17) (p=0.0001).Conclusions: The results showed that the HyFlex CM instrument, which is made of special 'controlled memory' alloy, had higher cyclic fatique resistance than electropolished BTRace instrument.
