ANALYZING BARRIERS ENCOUNTERED IN LEAN MANUFACTURING APPLICATIONS BY THE GREY DEMATEL INTEGRATED APPROACH

In today's highly competitive market conditions, enterprises must ensure that their production systems are customer focused, high quality and at the same time low cost. The global companies are trying to achieve their goals with lean manufacturing systems aimed at reducing inventory, increasing process efficiency and eliminating wastage. In this study, we have examined the key barriers to the implementation of lean manufacturing systems in order to identify how they can be successfully implemented in enterprises. For this purpose, the grey system theory and the DEMATEL approach are integrated in order to determine the relations and importance levels between the criterions, which can represent uncertain and complex decisions with definite numerical values. The most important obstacles have been identified by demonstrating the mutual relations between the findings and the obstacles encountered in lean production practices. It is believed that the results of the article will help the enterprises and managers to propose a model that can be applied in the determination of the obstacles that can be encountered in lean production applications.
