Doğal çevrenin, kültürel ve tarihi mirasın korunarak turizmin geliştirilmesi sürdürülebilir kalkınmanın temelini oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı kültürün, sürdürülebilir turizm politikaları çerçevesinde Ayvalık turizmindeki yeri ve önemidir. Ayvalık, sahip olduğu doğal ve çevre değerlerinin korunarak turizm amaçlı kullanılması, mimari ve kültürel dokunun tahrip edilmeden turizmin geliştirilmesi, yöresel ve otantik tarihi binaların turizm amaçlı kullanımının sağlanması, turizmin sürdürülebilirliğine uyum gösterecek politikalar oluşturulabilmesi açısından oldukça önemlidir.

The aim of this Study is to stress the position and importance of culture m Ayvalık tourism, m the framework of sustainable tourism policies. Ayvalık hos a great importance in protecting the natural and enviromental valves, and using them in tourism; developing tourism without destroying the architectural and cultural beauties; using the local and authentic historical building in tourism; creating policies to addapt the sustainable tourism.
