Öte yandan toplumlar güncel, çağdaş ve evrensel bir değer olarak kabul edilen demokrasi dışında alternatife sahip değildir. Yine demokrasi soyut ve izole bir kavram olarak düşünülmemelidir. O, adalet, hukuk devleti ve diğer sosyal değerlerden oluşmaktadır. Demokrasi farklı politik araçlar vasıtasıyla uygulanabilir. İşte bu makale demokrasinin pratik araçlarını ve bunların bazı çevre sorunlarının çözümüne olan etkilerini içermektedir. Çevre konuları yatırım projelerinin uygulanması doğrudan ve bölgesel zararlı etkilerinden dolayı yerli halkın önceliklerine dayanmalıdır. Aynı zamanda kirlilik hakkındaki tartışmalar diğer çevre haklarının yanı sıra ırk ayrımcılığını barındıran insan hakları sorunlarına da sebep olmaktadır. Katılımcı demokrasinin araçları çevre ile ilgili ulusal ya da uluslararası düzeyde karar alınması bakımından hayati öneme sahiptir. Zira, bireyler katılımcı demokrasi vasıtaları sayesinde çevrenin korunmasında önemli bir imkana sahip olmaktadırlar.

On the other hand, societies have no alternative out of democracy which is accepted as an actual, modern and universal virtue. Also, democracy can not be thought in a isolated and artifical concept. It consists of many components as justice, rule of law and modern sociological virtues. Democracy can be practised with different political tools. As you see, this article contains practical tools of democracy and its’ effects solving some environmental dilemmas. Environmental issues should be based on indigenious people’s precedences by reason of direct and territorial hazardous of practising enterprise projects. At the same time, dabates about contamination causes some human rights problems also include race discrimination as well as environmental rights. Tools of participatory democracy have vital significance for national or international level desicion making about environment. Then, people have got crucial opportunities to protect environment via participatory democracy tools .
