Nasal glioma: A rare congenital anomaly
Nasal gliomas are congenital middle line lesions that are formed by benign heterotopic neural tissues and are seen in one to 20000-40000 live births. In differential diagnosis epidermoid, dermoid cysts, hemangioma and encephalocele should be taken into consideration. Gliomas are seen 60% extranasal, 30% intranasal and 10% mix (in both areas because of the defect in nasal bone). With preoperative screening methods the existence of bone defect and intracranial relation of lesion should be presented. Although nasal gliomas have benign property, the treatment is complete excision due to the localisation and extensity of lesion. In this study, the surgical excision of a case having extra nasal localisation was presented in company with literature.
