For long years, MENA countries have been ruled by authoritarian but stable regimes. This state of affairs started to change following the massdemonstrattions, which were later labelled as “Arab Spring”, exploded inTunisia towards the end of 2010 and then spread to the entire region. In manyof these countries, in the aftermath of the change of leaders who had servedfor decades, new political actors emerged, new political systems are designedand new policies are introduced. Although it is beyond doubt that the regionhas been transformed significantly, due to the development such as the military coup in Egypt and the civil war in Syria, how this process is going to evolve is not for sure yet.
