Bu çalışmada yaratıcı drama alanının öncülerinden olan Brian Way’ın yaratıcı drama yaklaşımının ve alana getirdiği katkıların incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman incelemesi ve tam yapılandırılmış görüşmeye dayalı biyografik çalışma türünde gerçekleştirilen araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak tam yapılandırılmış görüşme, doküman inceleme kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada Brian Way’ın yaratıcı drama yaklaşımını incelemek üzere araştırmacı tarafından görüşme soruları hazırlanmış ve hazırlanan görüşme soruları iki farklı alan uzmanı tarafından değerlendirilerek geliştirilmiştir. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından 16 sorudan oluşan bir görüşme formu hazırlanmış ve 30 farklı doküman incelenmiştir. İncelenen dokümanların 2 tanesi Brian Way tarafından kaleme alınmış yazılar 28 tanesi ise başka araştırmacı ve alan uzmanlarının Way’a ilişkin yaptığı çalışmalar olmuştur. Araştırmaya ilişkin elde edilen veriler çözümlenmiş, İngilizce’den Türkçe ‘ye çevrilmiş, verilerin çözümlenmesinde yorumlayıcı betimsel analizden yararlanılmıştır. Bu araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular, Brian Way’ın, bireylerin gelişimini temel aldığı yaratıcı drama yaklaşımıyla, bilinçli, kendi öz anlatım biçimini bulmuş, toplumla sorgulayarak ve barışçıl bir yolla bütünlük sağlamış tümel bireylerin yaratılmasını amaçlayan bir model ortaya koyduğunu göstermektedir.

The purpose of this study is to search the contrubiton of Brian Way’s unique approachment which were developed by him for the fi eld of drama in education. Way is one of the pioneer’s in the world for the fi eld of drama in education.In this study, documents survey and whole-structured -biographical study, which is a type of method for making qualitative research,. was used by the researcher. Whole-structured interview, documents survey were used for data collection by the researcher for this study. For composing the data collection devices, sixteen questions interview form was prepared and thirty different documents were scanned by the researcher. The sixteen interview questions which were prepared by the researcher for investigation of Brian Way’s approachment of development through drama, were examined and developed by two other experts in the fi eld before the interview. The two of scanned documents were written by Brian Way, the other twenty-eight documents were written about him by the other experts and researchers in the fi eld. For analysing the datas, the researcher primarily dechipered the interview texts. Then, the researcher translated the dechipered interview texts with the other written documents from English to Turkish. Datas were analyzed by using interpretive descriptive analysis. Findings of this study point out that Brian Way’s approachment which depends on development of individual through drama, is presented a model for creating the “Whole Person” who is considered to be conscious, fi nd his/her self-expression way, become integrated to the society in a consciously and peaceful way.
