Bu çalışma, Fransız antropolog ve sosyolog David Le Breton’un Acının Antropolojisi kitabını değerlendirmektedir. Breton, bu eserinde acı olgusunun biyoloji ve tıp alanlarıyla olan ilişkisini kültürel, toplumsal ve dinsel boyutlarıyla yeniden düşünür. Breton acının, ilk bakışta oldukça zıt gibi görünen tüm bu alanlardaki tezahürlerini ve birbiriyle olan ilişkilerini tartışır. Eserinde acının işlevlerini de ele alan Breton, acıya çok yönlü bir perspektifle yaklaşarak, okuyucusunu acı ile düşünmede baş başa bırakır. This study examines the book "Anthropology of Pain" by French anthropologist and sociologist David Le Breton. Breton reconsiders the relationship of the phenomenon of pain with the fields of biology and medicine in this work, along with its cultural, social, communal, and religious dimensions. Breton discusses the appearances of pain in all these fields and their relations with each other, even though they seem to be quite opposite. Breton, who also discusses the functions of pain in his work, approaches pain from a multifaceted perspective and leaves his readers alone to think about their pain. Sometimes, pain is a type of power tool, and at other times, it creates a common ground for social acceptance and group identity. Pain, which changes the daily life of the individual in personal experiences, takes on different meanings in social and cultural spheres. The multifaceted nature of pain makes it necessary to reconsider and interpret it.
