Tiletamin-zolazepam and tiletamin-zolazepam-xylazin anetsthesia in dogs
In this study the anesthetic effect of the combinations of tiletamin-zolazepam and tiletamin-zolazepam-xylazin were investigated in 40 dogs which were in different breed, age, body weight and sex. First group of dogs n=20 were injected with the combination of tiletamin-zolazepam 10 mg/kg and second group of dogs n=20 were injected with the combination of tiletamin-zolazepam 10 mg/kg plus xylazin 1 mg/kg intramuscularly. Clinical fındings, heamatological and biochemical parameters were recorded before, during and 24 hour after anesthesia. The results showed that both combinations had an excellent effect of muscular relaxation and positive anesthetic conditions. On the other hand, both combinations had a little effect on the heamatological and biochemical parameters. Dogs that injected with tiletamin-zolazepam had a mean value of 5.9 minutes induction period and 97 minutes surgical anesthetic duration. However, dogs that injected with tiletaminzolazepam-xylazin had a mean value of 3.7 minutes induction period and 101 minutes surgical anesthesia duration. In this study; results demonstrated that the combinations of tiletamin-zolazepam or tiletamin-zolazepam-xylazin can be used in practice as anesthetics. It was also found that the combination of tiletamin- zolazepam-xylazin is more effective anesthetic than the combination of tiletamin-zolazepam
