TÜRK OKUL YÖNETİMİNDE LİDERLİK DAVRANIŞLARINA İLİŞKİN META-SENTEZ ÇALIŞMASI

A META-SYNTHESIS STUDY ON LEADERSHIP BEHAVIOR IN TURKISH SCHOOL MANAGEMENT

The aim of this paper is to present the studies on leadership in Turkish school management byapplying analysis and synthesis processes. In the study, a total of 29 papers, which wereconducted the years between 2001 and 2018, were examined and the findings were presented incertain themes, which are the result of meta-synthesis research method’s stages. In order todetermine which studies to include, Educational Resources Information Centre (ERIC), GoogleScholar search engine, YÖK (The Council of Higher Education) National Thesis Centre, Dergiparkand TUBITAK (Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council) Ulakbim databases wereemployed. Studies were thoroughly examined regarding their research methods, data collectionmethods, sample groups and results of conducted analyses. In the examined studies, it wasobserved that they had similar aims and they usually were conducted using qualitative datacollection tools on different sample groups. As a result of the study, it was seen that leadershipstyle was affected by age, seniority, tenure and gender variables in different ways. It is envisionedthat the findings of this paper will guide future studies and help create awareness aboutleadership behavior in school management.
