ANTİKÇAĞDA EVLİLİKLERLE KURULAN MÜTTEFİKLİKLER: I. ANTİOKHOS

Tarih boyunca hanedanlar kendi soylarını halk tabakasıyla karıştırmak istemediklerinden başka ülkelerin hanedanlarıyla evlilikler yapmıştır. Bu evlilikler soyluluklarını koruma amacı dışında ülkenin topraklarını korumak, vasal krallıkları otorite altına almak, siyasi nüfuzu genişletmek ve ittifak kurmak gayesini de taşımıştır. Yazılı tarihin başlangıcından 19. yüzyıl Avrupa’sına kadar uzanan süreçte evliliklerle müttefiklik kurmak politik bir gelenek haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada Anadolu’da kurulan ilk devletlerin yaptıkları hanedan evliliklerinden örnekler verilerek, bu siyasi anlayışın nasıl oluştuğu açıklanarak, kendisi de siyasi bir evliliğin sonucu doğan I. Antiokhos’un siyasi yaşamının evliliklerin sağladığı ittifaklarla nasıl şekillendiği açıklanmaya çalışılacaktır.

MARRIAGES ESTABLISHED ALLIANCES IN ANCIENT PERIOD: ANTIOCHUS I

Throughout the history, the dynasties have made marriages with the dynasties from different countries as they didn’t want to combine their own descendants with common people. In addition to the idea of protecting their nobility, these marriages aimed to protect territory of the country, to take the vassal kingdoms under the authority, to expand the political influence and to form alliance, too. Alliance through the marriages has become a political tradition during the process from the beginning of the written history until Europe of the 19th century. In this study, the occurence of this political understanding was explained by giving examples of dynasty marriages of first states at the Anatolia. Also, it was tried to explain political life of Antiachos who was born as a result of a political marriage himself, and how this political life was formed by the alliances of marriages.
