Eski edebiyatımızda belli başlı türlerden biri de şehr-engîzlerdir. Türle ilgili pek çok çalışma yapılmış, pek çok örneği yayımlanmıştır. Bu yazı, yapılmış çalışmaların bir dökümü ve değerlendirmesidir. Şehr-engîzlerle ilgili yargıların topluca bir resmini çizmektedir. Ayrıca türün bilinen örneklerinin tam bir dökümü ile, neşirler ve tür üzerine çalışmalar da topluca verilmiştir.

One of the important genres of old Turkish Literature is şehr-engîz (city thriller) genre. Scholars focused on the genre for years and published lots of works or studies. Critical editions of many samples of the genre were also released. In this article a general account of different attitudes towards the genre by separate scholars or researchers was tried to be given. And lists of the samples of the genre, critical editions and works on the genre were added.
