A Research on the Mediator Role of the Supportive Organizational Climate in the Impact of Transformational Leadership Style on Information Sharing

The change in today's business world shows itself, especially in the employees' expectations and demands from their organizations. To meet the employees' expectations and needs, it has become inevitable to make some innovations in organizations. It seems that there is a need for leaders who will support change and innovation. The effects of the supportive organizational climate created by transformational leaders on employees may manifest with different results. One of these results is information sharing. The research examines the mediating role of the supportive organizational climate in the impact of transformational leadership displayed in organizations and the sharing of employees’ knowledge. Research data were collected through a questionnaire. The first part of the questionnaire is aimed at determining the demographic characteristics of the participants. The second part includes the transformational leadership scale (independent variable), the third part of the supportive organizational climate (mediator variable), and the last part consists of the knowledge sharing (dependent variable) scale. In the analysis of research data, regression and correlation analysis were used besides validity and reliability analysis. To test the mediation relationship, the method proposed by Baron-Kenny (1986), which handles the mediation relationship in three stages, was used. One hundred thirty-five employees participated in the study. As a result, it has been determined that the supportive organizational climate has a full mediator role in the impact of transformational leadership on employee’ knowledge sharing. Also, it was determined that there is a medium and high-level correlational relationship between variables. In this context, high-level positive relations between transformational leadership and supportive organizational climate, medium-level positive relations between transformational leadership and information sharing, and similarly medium-level positive relations between knowledge sharing and supportive organizational climate were determined.leadership and information sharing, and similarly medium-level positive relations between knowledge sharing and supportive organizational climate were determined.

Dönüşümcü Liderlik Tarzının Bilgi Paylaşımına Etkisinde Destekleyici Örgüt İkliminin Aracı Rolüne Yönelik Bir Araştırma

Günümüz iş dünyasında var olan değişim kendini özellikle çalışanların organizasyonlarından beklenti ve isteklerinde göstermektedir. Çalışanların beklenti ve isteklerini karşılamak adına organizasyonlarda birtakım yenilikler yapılması kaçınılmaz hale getirmiştir. Bu noktada, değişimi ve yeniliği destekleyecek liderlere ihtiyaç olduğu görülmektedir. Dönüşümcü liderlerin oluşturacağı destekleyici örgütsel iklimin çalışanlar üzerindeki etkileri farklı sonuçlarla kendini gösterebilecektir. Bu sonuçlardan biri de bilgi paylaşımı olarak göze çarpmaktadır. Araştırma, organizasyonlarda sergilenen dönüşümcü liderlik ile çalışanların bilgiyi paylaşımına etkisinde destekleyici örgüt ikliminin aracılık rolünü incelemektir. Araştırma verileri anket yoluyla toplanmıştır. Anket formunun ilk kısmı katılımcıların demografik niteliklerini tespit etmeye yöneliktir. İkinci kısım dönüşümcü liderlik ölçeği (bağımsız değişken), üçüncü kısım destekleyici örgüt iklimi (aracı değişken) ve son kısım ise bilgi paylaşımını (bağımlı değişken) ölçeğini içermektedir. Araştırma verilerinin analizinde; geçerlilik ve güvenilirlik analizlerinin yanı sıra, regresyon ve korelasyon analizlerinden yararlanılmıştır. Aracılık ilişkisinin test edilmesi içinse, Baron-Kenny (1986) tarafından önerilen ve aracılık ilişkisini üç aşamada ele alan yöntem kullanılmıştır. Araştırmaya 135 çalışan katılmıştır. Sonuç olarak, dönüşümcü liderliğin çalışanların bilgi paylaşımları üzerindeki etkisinde destekleyici örgüt ikliminin tam aracı rolünün olduğu belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca değişkenler arasında orta ve yüksek düzeyde korelasyonel ilişki olduğu da belirlenmiştir. Bu çerçevede, dönüşümcü liderlik ile destekleyici destekleyici örgüt iklimi arasında yüksek düzeyde pozitif yönde, dönüşümcü liderlik ile bilgi paylaşımı arasında orta düzeyde pozitif yönde ve bilgi paylaşımı ile destekleyici örgüt iklimi arasında yine orta düzeyde pozitif yönde ilişkiler belirlenmiştir.
