be detected by routine tests, including those for infectious, cardiac, and hormonal disorders. It is well known that chromosomal anomalies, such as Down syndrome, may be associated with isolated pleural effusion (3). The content of the isolated pleural effusion in Down syndrome is mostly chylous. There are a limited number of reported cases of Down syndrome with ascites (4)
