Stratigraphy and geochemical features of the Early Miocene biomodal (ultrapotassic and calc-alkaline) volcanic activity within the NE-trending Selendi Basin, Western Anatolia, Turkey

Batı Anadolu, Eosen'deki kıta-yay çarpışmasından sonra kabuksal kalınlaşma ve orojenik çökme olayları ile şekillenmiştir. Bölgede, çarpışma sonrası volkanizmanın ilk evresinin (Erken Miyosen), bazaltik andezitten riyolite kadar değişen bileşimlerde kalk-alkali volkanik ürünler verdiği kabul edilir. Batı Anadolu'da kuzeydoğu uzanımlı havzalardan birisi olan Selendi Havzasında ise, iki farklı bileşimli volkanik birim Erken Miyosen yaşlı tortul kayaçlar ile giriklilik sunar. Bunlar, (1) kalk-alkali yüksek-K'lu felsik ve (2) alkali, ultrapotasik lamproitik birimler olup bileşim bakımından bimodal karakterlidirler. Kalk-alkali felsik volkanik kayaçlar (Eğreltidağ volkanik birimi) geniş yayılımlı piroklastik kayaçlar ve lavlardan; ultrapotasik-lamproitik mafik kayaçlar ise (Kuzayır lamproiti) az miktarda, tortullaşmayla yaşıt lav akmalarından oluşur. Kuzayır lamproitinin jeokimyasal özellikleri 'Akdeniz lamproitleri' olarak da anılan ve dağoluşum sonrası tektonik ortamlarda gelişen lamproitlere benzerlik sunar. Diğer çarpışma ortamlarında da olduğu gibi, bu iki volkanik birimin zamansal ve konumsal birlikteliği dağoluşum sonrası bimodal volkanik aktiviteyi tanımlamaktadır. Ayrıca, bu veriler Batı Anadolu'da genişlemeli tektonik rejimin en azından Erken Miyosen'de başlamış olduğunu ve yalnızca kalk-alkali felsik bileşimli volkanik aktiviteyi değil, bunun yanı sıra, mantodan türeme alkali ve ultrapotasik bileşimli volkanikleri de ürettiğini ifade eder.
