Çalışmamızda 01 03 1994 31 03 2000 yılları arasında Haydarpaşa Numune Hastanesi Çocuk Kliniği nde yatarak tedavi gören enterikateş olguları klinik laboratuar ve komplikasyonlar açısından retrospektif olarak gözden geçirilmiştir nbsp; Toplam 22 olgunun 16 sı 73 erkek 6 sı 27 kız idi Yaşları 4 ay 12 yaş arasında olup yaş ortalaması 7 2 idi Başvurudaki semptomları sıklık sırasına göre; ateş 68 2 kusma 54 5 ishal 40 9 letarji 40 9 iştahsızlık 36 4 karın ağrısı 31 8 döküntü 27 3 hepatomegali 27 3 konstipasyon 22 7 splenomegali 18 2 başağrısı halsizlik kilo kaybı eklem bulguları gibi diğer septomlar 27 3 idi Olguların 19 u 86 Salmonella typhi 3 ü 14 Salmonella paratyphiye bağlı enterik ateş tanısı aldı Ondokuz S typhi olgusunun tanısı klinik bulguların varoluşunun yanısıra 15 inde Gruber Widal aglütinasyon pozitifliği 79 serolojisi negatif 4 olgunun 1 inde kan ve BOS da üreme olması 3 olgunun ise dışkı kültüründe üreme olması ile konuldu Salmonella paratyphi enfeksiyonlu 3 olgunun 2 sinde Gruber Widal aglütinasyon pozitifliği vardı 1 olguda ise kan kültüründe üreme oldu 22 olgunun 6 sında enterik ateşe bağlı komplikasyon gelişti Bunların 4 ü merkezi sinir sistemi MSS komplikasyonu idi Bir olgumuz toksik miyokardit diğer bir olgumuz ise 8 yaşında erkek hasta olup bu yaş grubunda nadir bir komplikasyon olan akut kolesistit ve akut hidrops tanısı aldı MSS komplikasyonlu olgularımızın 2 si toksik ensefalopati diğer 2 si menenjit olup menenjitlerden biri 4 aylık kız sepsis nedeniyle kaybedildi Çalışmamızda enterik ateş olgularının gözden geçirilmesiyle birlikte nadir görülen komplikasyonlarının da sunulması istendi Anahtar kelimeler: Enterik ateş enterik ateş komplikasyonları çocukluk çağı

In our study patients with enteric fever who had been hospitalized in Haydarpaşa Research Hospital Pediatric Clinic between March 01 1994 March 31 2000 were investigated retrospectively Total 22 patients sixteen of 73 were males and 6 27 were females They were aged between 4 months 12 years and the average age was 7 2 years Symptoms at admittance were fever 68 2 vomiting 54 5 diarrhea 40 9 lethargy 40 9 loss of appetite 36 4 stomachache 31 8 rash 27 3 hepatomegaly 27 3 constipation 22 7 and splenomegaly 18 2 Other symptoms like headache weakness weight loss and joint symptoms were 27 3 Nineteen of the cases 86 were diagnosed as enteric fever due to Salmonella typhi and 3 14 were evaluated as Salmonella paratyphi infection In addition to the clinical findings in 19 S typhi cases Gruber Widal agglutination test was positive in 15 cases 79 blood and cerebrospinal fluid cultures were positive in 1 of the 4 cases with negative serology and feces cultures were positive in the other cases Gruber Widal agglutination test was positive in 2 of the 3 cases who had Salmonella paratyphi infection and blood culture was positive in the other case Complications related to enteric fever developed in 6 of the 22 cases Four of them developed Central Nervous System CNS complications and one toxic myocarditis The other case was an 8 year old male who developed a acute cholecystitis and hydrops which is a rare complication in this age group Two of the CNS complications were toxic encephalopathy; the other 2 were meningitis A 4 month old baby with meningitis died due to sepsis In our study we wanted to present the rare complications that developed in our enteric fever cases Key words: Enteric fever Complications of enteric fever childhood
