RUS ASILLI FRANSIZ YAZAR LİDİYAPAŞKOVA’NIN SEYAHATNAMELERİNDE OSMANLIEYALETLERİNDEKİ KADIN VE ERKEK İMAJI
Mevzubahis çalışmamız Rus asıllı Fransız gazeteci-yazar ve gezginLidiya Paşkova’nın eserlerinin analizini ihtiva etmektedir. Paşkova’nınzengin edebî mirasında; özellikle de Osmanlı eyaletlerine yaptığı gezi ler esnasında kaleme aldığı seyahatnamelerinde, bu bölgelerde yaşayantoplumların genel yapısının yanı sıra, kadın ve erkek imajı da detaylı birbiçimde tasvir edilmektedir. Modernleşme sürecine girmeye çalışan Müs lüman Doğu halklarının o dönemin kadın bir yazarının bakış açısı ile tas viri, ilgili eyaletlerin toplumsal yapılarında meydana gelen değişimlerinde ayrıntılı bir biçimde değerlendirilmesine olanak tanımaktadır. Bununlabirlikte Lidiya Paşkova’nın yazdığı eserler, dönemin aydın kadınlarının gerçekleştirdikleri seyahatlerden edindikleri izlenim ve tecrübeler ışığın da kendi entelektüel kimliklerini hangi temelde inşa ettiklerini, günlükhayata istinaden kullandıkları davranış ve anlatı kalıplarını ve Ortadoğubaşta olmak üzere; seyahat ettikleri farklı coğrafyaları nasıl anlattıklarınıkavramamızı da sağlamaktadır. Gezileri esnasında farklı insanlarla tanış mak için özel bir çaba sarf eden Paşkova, söz konusu tanışma süreçlerin den elde ettiği izlenimleri de okurlarına aktarmıştır. Öte yandan, büyükhayranlık duyduğu güçlü Doğulu erkek imajının etkisiyle kaleme aldığıeserlerinde Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nda yaşayan erkek toplumunun genelbir portresini de oluşturmaya gayret etmiştir. Yine Osmanlı eyaletlerin de ikamet eden farklı sosyal sınıflara, dinlere ve etnik kökenlere mensupkadın ve erkeklerin aralarındaki fiziki ve davranışsal farklılıkların yanısıra, kültürler arası evlilikler de yazarın üzerinde hassasiyetle durduğu birbaşka önemli detay olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır.
The image of Men and Women in Ottoman Provinces in the Travelogues of the Russian-born French writer Lidia Pashkova
The article contains the analysis of the works of the Russian-Frenchwriter, traveler and journalist Lydia Pashkova. The rich literary heritageof Pashkova and especially her travelogues that were written during hertravels to the Ottoman provinces abound with a detailed descriptionof the general structure of the societies living in these regions, as wellas the image of men and women. The portrayal of the Muslim Easternpopulation trying to enter the process of modernization from the pointof view of a female writer of that period allows us to trace in detailthe changes that have occurred in the social structure of the respectiveprovinces. Besides, the works written by Pashkova show the basis onwhich the enlightened women of the period built their intellectual identityin the light of the impressions and experiences they received from theirtravels, the behavior and narrative patterns they used in relation to dailylife, and especially in the Middle East. It also allows us to understandhow they describe the different regions they travel to. Special attention ispaid to Lydia Pashkova’s impressions of meeting different people duringher travels. She often admired Oriental men. Therefore, the Russian French traveller placed a special emphasis in her travelogues on creating acollective portrait of a man of the Ottoman Empire. She also described thedifferences in both the appearance and character of men and women fromdifferent provinces of the state. In addition, the article draws attention toPashkova’s attitude to cross-cultural marriages.
