[Screening Strategies In A Global Public Health Issue Colorectal Carcinoma and Place of Colonoscopy]

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a common and lethal disease which is influenced by both environmental and genetic factors. CRC is the third most common diagnosis of cancer following lung and breast cancers and the fourth leading cause of cancer death. Although commonly seen in high income countries, but there are many reports of increasing trend of this cancer in middle income countries. So, it is crucial to performing adoptable and science based screening strategies in CRC. Screening has been shown to decrease mortality from CRC. Colonoscopy is a both diagnostic and therapeutic technique which permits examination and treatment of colon and also it is an inevitable cornerstone in CRC screening.
