SOSYAL HİZMET ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN EŞCİNSELLİĞE YÖNELİK TUTUMLARI: BİR ATÖLYE EĞİTİMİNİN ETKİLERİ

Bu araştırmanın amacı, sosyal hizmet öğrencilerinin eşcinselliğe yönelik tutumlarındaki değişimi verilen atölye eğitimi ile birlikte incelemektir. Çalışma kapsamında sosyal hizmet lisans programında öğrenim gören 45 öğrenciye eğitim verilmiş, ön test ve son test tekniğiyle eşcinselliğe yönelik tutumları karşılaştırmalı olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Öğrencilerin lezbiyenlere yönelik tutum puanları ortalaması eğitim öncesinde 13,42 iken bu ortalama eğitim sonrasında 11,93 olmuştur. Öğrencilerin geylere yönelik tutum puanları ortalaması eğitim öncesinde 13,38 iken bu ortalama eğitim sonrasında 11,80 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Öğrencilerin ölçekten aldıkları toplam puanların ortalaması eğitim öncesinde 26,80 iken eğitim sonrasında bu ortalama 23,73 olarak değişmiştir. Sonuç olarak, verilen eğitim sonrası öğrencilerin eşcinselliğe yönelik algılarının büyük oranda ve olumlu yönde değiştiği görülmüştür. Sosyal hizmet eğitim programları sosyal hizmet uzmanından beklenen profesyonel davranış konusunda güçlendirilmelidir. Ayrıca öğrencilerin eşcinsellere yönelik tutumlarını dikkate alan sınıf içi uygulamalara önem verilmelidir.

Attitudes of Social Work Students towards Homosexuality: Effects of a Training Workshop

This study aims to examine the effects of a training workshop on social work students’ attitudes towards homosexuality. In the study, 45 social work students from undergraduate program were recruited and their attitudes towards homosexuality were evaluated by using the technique of pre-test and post-test test. While the mean of attitude scores of students towards lesbians was 13,42 before the workshop it was found to be 11,93 after the workshop. The mean on the pretest attitudes towards gays was 13,38, the mean on the posttest was 11,80 after the workshop. The total mean of scores was changed from 26,80 to 23,73. As a result, it is found that after the training, perceptions of university students towards homosexuality varied greatly and positively. Social work education programs should be strengthened for the anticipated professional behavior. Besides, in-class practices that consider the attitudes of students towards homosexuals should be regarded.
