SOSYAL HİZMET UZMANLARI VE İKİNCİL TRAVMALAR
Travma yaşayan bireyler ile çalışan meslek elemanlarının travmanın yarattığı olumsuz etkileri dolaylı olarak deneyimlemesi ikincil travma olarak adlandırılmaktadır. İşi gereği ise sürekli travma yaşayan bireyler ile çalışan meslek elemanlarından biri olan sosyal hizmet uzmanları dolaylı olarak travmanın yarattığı bu olumsuz belirtilerden dolaylı olarak etkilenmektedirler. İkincil travma yaşayan uzmanlarda çaresizlik, depresyon, kızgınlık, öfke, izolasyon gibi duyguların yanında iş doyumunda azalma, hata oranlarında artış, hizmet kalitesinde azalma veya işten ayrılma gibi olumsuz sonuçlar ile karşılaşılmaktadır. Bunun yanında profesyonel karar vermede sorun yaşama, müracaatçının durumuna yönelik yanlış teşhis koyma ve etkili olmayan müdahale planı oluşturma gibi durumlar ile de karşılaşılabilmektedir. Bu durum sosyal hizmet uzmanının mesleğini etkili bir şekilde icra etmesini engellemektedir. Bu sebeple sosyal hizmet uzmanlarının deneyimledikleri ikincil travmalar fark edildiğinde hem sosyal hizmet uzmanının hem de müracaatçının iyilik hali için uzmana müdahale edilip İkincil travma sonucu oluşan olumsuz belirtilerin düzeltilmesi ve bu durumun tekrarlanmaması için önlemler alınması gerekmektedir.
SOCIAL WORKER AND SECONDARY TRAUMATIC STRESS
The fact that the members of profession experience the negative effects of working with individuals suffering trauma is called the secondary trauma. Due to the nature of their profession, the social workers are affected by the negative symptoms caused by the trauma. In addition to hopelessness, anger, rage, isolation, decrease on job satisfaction, increase on mistake percentages, decrease on service quality and turnover intention from job has been witnessed on secondary trauma suffering social workers. Besides this, experiencing difficulty on professional decision making, wrong diagnosis on clients and ineffective intervention kind of situations have also been observed. This situation prevents the social worker to fully and affectively practice her/his profession. For this reason, when the secondary trauma of the social worker is noticed, for the sake of both the social worker and patient, there should be an interference to treat the social worker make sure this will not happen again.
