Çok eskiden beri yük taşımacılığı gibi çeşitli amaçlarla kullanılan develerin vücudunu kaplayan “alt ince lifler” tekstil sektöründe farklı alanlarda değerlendirilebilme olanağı bulmaktadır. Devenin vücudunu saran lifler esasında 2 farklı tipten oluşmaktadır. Bunlardan ilki dıştaki koruyucu kaba kıllar, diğeri ise izolasyon sağlayan alt ince liflerdir. Tekstilde kullanılabilir özellikte olanlar daha çok alt ince lifler olduğundan, daha fazla ince life sahip çift hörgüçlü develer bu alanda kullanım imkanı bulabilmektedirler. Deve liflerinin özelliklerine ilişkin literatürde çeşitli çalışmalar bulunmasına rağmen, Anadolu’da yetiştirilen tek hörgüçlü melez develerin lif özelliklerine ilişkin teknik bilgi bulunmamaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Anadolu’daki iki farklı yörede yetiştirilen develerden alınan lif örneklerinin çeşitli fiziksel özelliklerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır.   

Camels have been used for different purposes such as transportation for years and have “fine down hair” that surround their body and could be used in different areas in textile industry. In fact, the camel grows two kinds of hairs, an outer protective coat of coarse (guard) hair and an insulating undercoat of fine hair or down. Since the fibers that could be used in textile industry is the fine down hair, the Bactrian, or two-humped camel is more suitable for this aim. Despite the fact that there are various studies in the literature on the properties of camel fibers, there is a lack of technical information on the fiber properties of single humped hybrid Anatolian camels. The purpose of this study was to investigate the fiber properties of the camels that live in two different places of Anatolia.
