An application at textile industry focused on customer: Quality function deployment

Today's customer demands and properties of product are comprehensive and it is not possible to get these with a traditional quality control system. As a Quality Control System, Quality Function Deployment (QFD) translates customer requirements into the appropriate technical requirements for each stage of production and this helps to be focused on customer requirements and needs. QFD is an approach which can help to improve quality, satisfy customer needs, shorten development times and at the same time reduce cost. This means lower production costs, higher success on the market, increase in export and more satisfied customers. This paper aims at analyzing the implementation of QFD at a textile warp knitting company. After determining the customer demands and technical characteristics, which appropriate to this sector, the relationships between these parameters were found by using The House of Quality Matrix. The specifications of warp knitted fabrics have been compared with competitor's products and the factors, which should be improved, were determined.
