Dünya hayatının, önemini hiçbir zaman yitirmeyen ve hemen her alanda etkisini sürdüren olgusu siyaset, tarih boyunca insanın ilâhî vahye yaklaşımında etkili olmuştur. Toplumun hangi kademesinde yer alırsa alsın İslam coğrafyalarında yaşamış veya yaşamakta olanlar için de aynı durum geçerlidir. Nitekim Kur’an vahyinin anlaşılması, insanlara aktarılması ve hayata uyarlanması olarak tarif edebileceğimiz tefsir ilmi kapsamında ortaya konanlar siyasal algılamalardan fazlasıyla etkilenmiştir. Lafzı aynı kalmakla birlikte, gerek metnin özel yapısından, gerekse onu anlamaya çalışanın yaşam şartlarından ve yorumlama faaliyetinin kendi mahiyetinden dolayı Kur’an sayısız yoruma açık hale gelmiştir. Bir tefsir akademisyeni olarak müellif bu eserinde siyasetin Kur’an tefsiri üzerindeki etkisini İslam tarihinin ilk yüzyıllarında yaşananlar bağlamında ve olabildiğince tarafsız bir tutumla ele almıştır. Müellifin temel hareket noktası birtakım şekilsel farklılıklara rağmen siyasî düşüncenin tüm toplumları etkilediği ve Kur’an’a karşı kavram karmaşalarından ve fikir curcunalarından uzak, aklıselim yaklaşımların sergilenebilmesi için geçmişin daha dikkatli okunması gerektiğidir. Siyasî hadise ve hedeflerin yönlendirdiği tefsirin “siyasal tefsir” adıyla ve geniş bir yelpazede değerlendirildiği eser giriş ve üç bölümden oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümü siyasal tefsirin ilk dönem tarihî arka planına ayrılmıştır. Birinci bölümde ise siyasal tefsirin teorik boyutu özellikle ilk siyasal ayrılmalar örnekliğinde sunulmuştur. İkinci bölüm tefsirin siyaset malzemesi haline getirilmesinde bir yöntem olarak değerlendirilen ideolojik okumalar mercek altına alınmıştır. Üçüncü bölüm ise siyaset teorisinin Kur’an ile desteklenmeye çalışılan kavramsal unsurlarına ayrılmıştır. Bu bölümde siyasetin iki aslî tarafı olan yöneten ve yönetilen arasındaki ilişkinin Kur’an’a yaklaşımı nasıl belirlediği, bazı ayetlerin bu ilişkiler içerisinde nasıl kullanıldığı ortaya konmuştur. Konunun genişliğinden dolayı belirli bir zaman dilimiyle sınırlı tutulmuş olsa da eser, tefsirin bugün geldiği noktanın doğru tahlil edilmesinde bir kilometre taşı mesabesindedir.

In worldly life the phenomenon of policy which has never lost its importance and continues to be influential in almost every field, has had a say in man's approach to divine revelation throughout history. The same is true for those who have lived or are living in Islamic geographies, no matter what level of society they belong to. As a matter of fact, what is revealed within the scope of the science of tafsir, which we can describe as understanding the revelation of the Qur’an, transferring it to people and adapting it to life, has been greatly influenced by political perceptions. Although the wording remains the same, the Qur’an has become open to countless interpretations due to the special structure of the text, the living conditions of those who try to understand it, and the nature of the interpretation activity. As a tafsir scholar, the author, in this work, deals with the effect of politics on the interpretation of the Qur’an in the context of what happened in the first centuries of Islamic history and as objectively as possible. The main starting point of the author is that despite some formal differences, political thought affects all societies and the past should be read more carefully in order to display sensible approaches to the Qur’an, away from conceptual confusion and intellectual turmoil. The work, in which the tafsir, guided by political events and targets, is evaluated under the name of “political tafsir” and in a wide range, consists of an introduction and three parts. The introduction is devoted to the historical background of the first period of political commentary. In the first part, the theoretical dimension of political commentary is presented especially in the example of the first political separations. In the second part, ideological readings, which are considered as a method in making tafsir a political material, are scrutinized. The third chapter is devoted to the conceptual elements of political theory that are tried to be supported by the Qur’an. In this section, it is revealed how the relationship between the two main sides of politics, the ruler and the ruled, determines the approach to the Qur’an, and how some verses are used in these relations. Although it is limited to a certain period of time due to the breadth of the subject, the work is within a kilometer of the correct analysis of the point where tafsir has reached today.
