Günümüzde sürekli gelişim içerisinde olan toplumsal yapının yeni biçim ve düzenlemeleri izlemesi yapıları da etkilemektedir. Özellikle, ülkemizdeki mevcut yapı stoku ve turizmin gelişimi sonucu artan yatak gereksinimi ile yeniden kullanım ve otel kavramı bir araya gelmektedir. Bu çalışmada otel işlevi verilmesi düşünülen yapıların yeniden kullanım sürecinde doğru mekanlar oluşturabilmek için tasarımlarında algısal ve kavramsal bağlamda mekana yaklaşma ve uzaklaşma, giriş ve çıkış, mekanların düzeni boyunca hareket, mekanların işlerliği ve içlerindeki eylemler, tasarım kimliği, mekanlar arası süreklilik ve mekan tasarımının gelişimi gibi gerekli olan hususlar ortaya konulmaktadır. Bu bağlamda söz konusu mekansal dönüşümlerin analizi için izlenecek yöntem şematik olarak özetlenmiştir. Daha sonra belirlenen yöntem doğrultusunda, hem tarihi bir yapı hem de eski İstanbul sınırları içerisinde yer alması açısından özgün bir örnek olan Four Seasons Oteli-Sultan Ahmet Cezaevi’nin analizi yapılmaktadır. Son olarak da seçilen örnek yapı üzerinden otel olarak yeniden kullanım bağlamında mekansal dönüşümlerin analizinden elde edilen öznel bulgular ortaya konulmaktadır.

Nowadays, the social structure in the continuous development monitors the new shapes and regulations that this effort also affects the structures. Especially, as a result of the existing building stock and the development of tourism, the concepts of re-use and requirement of bed and hotel come together. During the re-use process of buildings which are thought to be hotel and have the functions of hotel, subjects such as approach and departure to the space in terms of perception and conception in designs, entrance and exit, movement through the space design, functionality of spaces and actions in them, design identity, continuity and development of space design which are necessary for to establish and create suitable spaces. In this context, the method determined for the analysis of the spatial transformations is summarized as schematically. Then, in accordance with this determined method, the analysis of Four Seasons Hotel - Sultan Ahmet Jail is made, which is a unique example because of the reason that it is located within the boundaries of old Istanbul and a historical building. Finally, nominative findings that have been obtained as the result of spatial transformations are discussed and set out within the context of re-use of a chosen sample building as a hotel
