Philosophy and theology are two disciplines that compete with each other in their method and nature. In order to build their systems philosophy criticizes whereas theology accepts without criticism. This is one of the reasons why they need each other. It is true that theology can easily turn to fanaticism, without philosophy. On the other hand, philosophy can turn into ideological monomania.
