Girişimcilik teknik, ekonomik ve sosyal becerilerin bir bileşenidir. Çünkü işletmeler sadece teknik kurumlar değildir. Aynı zamanda ekonomik ve sosyal kurumlardır. Bu nedenle bir işletme kurarak girişimciliğe adım atan bireyin de bu bileşene belirli ölçülerde sahip olması gerekmektedir. Mühendislik fakültelerinde teknik eğitim çok büyük bir ağırlıkla verilirken maalesef ekonomik ve sosyal eğitime yeterince önem verilmemektedir. Bu da teknik yönü güçlü olmakla beraber ekonomik ve sosyal bilgi ve becerilerden yoksun nitelikli mühendislerin girişimciliğe yeterince adım atamamalarına ve atanların da bir süre sonra başarısız olmalarına neden olmaktadır. İki kavramın bir arada olabilmesinin ilk şartı iyi bir temel eğitimdir. Türkiye'de tekstil mühendisliği eğitimi veren 14 üniversite bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada tekstil mühendisliği eğitiminde girişimciliği etkileyen faktörler incelenmiş ve değerlendirmelerde bulunulmuştur.

Entrepreneurship is a component of technical, economical and social skills. Because enterprises aren’t only technical corporations. At the same time they are economical and social corporations. Therefore an individual must own this component at a certain level who becomes an entrepreneur by establishing an enterprise. Technical education takes a significant share in engineering faculties whereas less importance is given to economical and social education. For this reason the qualified engineers with strong technical skills and lack of social information and abilities are unable to become successful entrepreneurs. Basic education is the first condition for the coexistence of these two concepts. There are 14 universities in Turkey which give textile engineering education. In this study, the factors which affect the entrepreneurship in textile engineering education are analyzed and evaluations are made.
