Susma, sosyal iletişimin konuşmayla ilişkili özgün ve çok anlamlı bir işlevidir. Çeşitli anlam nüanslarıyla susma, konuşmanın vereceği bilgiyi, ona farklı bir anlatımsallık katarak sunar. Dolayısıyla susma bazı durumlarda konuşmanın işlevini yüklenebilir. Susmayla ortaya çıkan sessizlik ise dile daha çok olumsuz yönleriyle yansıyan bir kavramdır. Dil verileri sessizliğe olan olumsuz yaklaşımı açık bir şekilde yansıtmaktadır.Çalışmada susma ve ona bağlı olan sessizlik kavramları dil verileri temelinde ele alınmıştır.

The speechless is the specific and polysemous function of social communication related to speech. The speechless with its various meaning nuances presents the information that will be given by speech by adding different expressivitye. Therefore the speechless can carry the speech’s function in some cases. On the other hand, the silence which occurs as a result of the speechless is the concept which is reflected to language mostly with its negative aspects. Language data clearly reflect the negative approach to the silence. The concepts of the speechless and silence are discussed on the basis of the language data in this study.
