“LİBRARY OF STUFF” AND “BEBE DÖNÜŞÜM”: CULTURE-BASED SHARİNG SYSTEM EXAMPLES İN TURKEY

Today, the focus of research for alternative life practices criticizing the existing economic model based on consumption; shifted from production methodologies to changing consumption patterns. In this back-ground, due to its potential of sustainability, product service systems have become popular and have been analysed by many engineering and design academics.Sharing, a habitual act that is learnt in childhood is blended in Turkish culture. Many sharing rituals have still been practiced in Turkish society in many different forms. In this study, we aimed to exemplify the formalization of daily sharing routines by bringing two product sharing service cases of Turkey into light. By designing a more systematic sharing service with the help of digital technologies, Library of Stuff and Baby Stuff Freecycle initiatives indicate that sharing can be alive even in the big cities.
