Toplumsal değişme-gelişme ile pek çok alanda değişimler görüldüğü gibi ailede ve aile üyelerinin rollerinde de değişmeler olmuştur. Güloğlu, “Baba otoritesi gerçekten zayıflamış mıdır yoksa baba otoritesinin gerilediği söyleminin arkasında başka şeyler olabilir mi? sorusuyla çalışmaya başlamıştır. Çalışmada, teorik olarak babalığa nasıl bakıldığı, tarihsel arka planında nelerin yattığı, toplumsal değişim ve gelişimlerin babalık rollerini nasıl değişime uğrattığı, otoritenin hangi anlamlara geldiği, literatürde hangi tartışmalar üzerinden okunduğu üzerinde dururken saha çalışması ile de teorik arka plana örnekler sunup desteklemiştir. Baba otoritesinin toplumsal değişme sürecinde nasıl bir dönüşüme uğradığı araştırılmıştır. Nitel araştırma yaklaşımı ile “uyarlayıcı teori” yöntemi icra edilmiştir. Çalışmanın hedefi, bu değişim ve dönüşümlerin etkisiyle aile üyeleri arasındaki ilişkilerin dönüşümünün nasıl olduğunu analiz etmektir. Kitap boyunca, “Ailenin sürekliliğini sağlayan şey nedir?” sorusunun cevabı “otorite” olarak sunulmuştur. Araştırma, saha verilerini analiz edebilmek için babaların otoriteye yönelik bakış açılarını ve anlam dünyalarını ortaya koymak için sembolik etkileşimcilik bakış açısını, babaların otoritelerini üretmek için kullandıkları strateji ve teknikleri ortaya koymak için ise etnometodolojik yaklaşımı analiz birimi olarak kullanmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini BADEP’e katılmış babalar oluşturmaktadır. Örneklemi ise, BADEP eğitiminde verilen tavsiyelere göre programı en iyi içselleştiren babalar oluşturmaktadır. ‘Amaçlı örnekleme’ tekniği ile BADEP’in çıktılarını içselleştiren babalarla yarı yapılandırılmış sorularla derinlemesine mülakatlar yapılarak otorite pratiklerindeki dönüşümler incelenmiştir.

As well as changes in many areas with social change-development, there have also been changes in the family and the roles of family members. Güloğlu began to work with the question, "Is the father's authority really weakened or could there be other things behind the discourse that the father's authority has declined?" In the study, while focusing on how fatherhood is looked at theoretically, what lies in its historical background, how social changes and developments change the roles of fatherhood, what meanings authority means, through which discussions it is read in the literature, he also presented and supported the theoretical background with his field work. It has been investigated how the authority of the father has undergone a transformation in the process of social change. The "adaptive theory" method was performed with a qualitative research approach. The aim of the study is to analyze how the relationships between family members are transformed under the influence of these changes and transformations. Throughout the book, the answer to the question "What is it that ensures the continuity of the family?" is presented as "authority". The research used the symbolic interactionism perspective to reveal the fathers' perspectives on authority and their world of meaning in order to analyze the field data, and the ethnomethodological approach as an analysis unit to reveal the strategies and techniques used by the fathers to produce their authority. The universe of the research consists of fathers who have joined BADEP. The sample consists of the fathers who best internalize the program according to the recommendations given in BADEP education. Transformations in authority practices were examined by conducting in-depth interviews with semi-structured questions with fathers who internalized BADEP's outcomes with the 'purposeful sampling' technique.
