Geleneğin sosyal hayattaki önemini inkâr edemeyiz. Çoğu zaman, gelenek ve görenek diyerek ifade ettiğimiz ve biraz da hafife aldığımız bu gerçek aslında gelişmenin ve ilerlemenin vazgeçilmez unsurudur. Geleneğin sosyal hayattaki bu önemi hiç şüphesiz sanat için daha çok geçerlidir. Edebiyat tarihimiz, geleneği sürdüremeyen birçok teşebbüsün başarısızlıkları ile doludur. Nev-Yunânîlik ve Nâyîlik bunlardan sadece ikisidir. Bu yazımızda önce, üzerinde çok fazla durulmayan her iki topluğun ilkeleri, mensupları ve bir araya geliş sebepleri ele alındıktan sonra Yahya Kemâl’in fikirlerinden nasıl etkilendikleri tespit edilmiş, daha sonra Nev-Yunânîler ve Nâyîler hakkında yapılan eleştiriler irdelenerek, başarısız da olsalar edebiyatımıza yapmış oldukları katkılar ortaya koyulmaya çalışılmıştır.

We cannot deny the importance of tradition in our social life. This fact that we mostly interpret as custom and tradition and slightly underrate is actually an indispensable component of development and progress. This kind of importance of tradition in social life is no doubt more valid for art. Our history of Literature is full of failures of many attempts which couldn’t continue the tradition. Nev-Yunânîlik and Nâyîlik are only two examples of many. In our article, firstly after discussing the members and reasons of getting together and underrated principles of each of these two societies, it was highlighted how they were influenced by the ideas of Yahya Kemal and then examining the critics about Nev-Yunânîs and Nâyîs despite their being unsuccessful, their contributions to the literature were aimed to be demonstrated.
