Giriş: Total PSA(tPSA)'dan farklı bir metabolizmaya sahip olan serbest PSA(sPSA)'nın, tPSA'dan farklı bir günlük varyasyonunun olup olmadığını; varsa, serbest/total PSA oranının gün içinde değişip değişmediğini araştırmak istedik. Materyal ve Metod: Yaş ortalaması 61( 40-84 arası) olan ve üroloji dışında diğer kliniklerde yatan 33 erkek hastadan 8 saat arayla 3 kez kan alınarak aynı anda serbest ve total PSA değerlerine bakıldı. Her üç ölçüm için s/t PSA değerleri hesaplandı ve sonuçlar istatistik olarak değerlendirildi.Bulgular: 33 hastanın %64'ünde tPSA gün içinde gittikçe düşerken bu esnada ölçülen serbest PSA değerleri önce yükselip sonra hafif azalmış; sabah %20 olan s/t PSA oranı öğleden sonra %22 ve gece %23 olarak hesaplanmıştır. Purpose: To determine if there is a different daily variation of freePSA(fPSA), having a distinct metabolic pathway other than tPSA and if any, to understand an ultimate fPSA/tPSA ratio fluctuations that might influence a desicion of biopsy for borderline f/t PSA values.Material and Method: Blood samples were drawn from 33 men with a mean age of 61 years ( 40-84) hospitalized at departments other than urology with different diagnoses, three times a day; morning, afternoon and midnight, with 8 hours intervals, and assayed for fPSA and tPSA. Then f/t PSA calculations were made and the data were analyzed statistically.Results: While In 64% of the patients tPSA decreased all the day, fPSA increased in the second calculations and slightly decreased later. f/tPSA value changed from 20% in the morning to 22% and 23% in the afternoon and midnight respectively.
