The Formation and Repaır of Orthodontically Incuced Inflammatory Root Resorption

Orthodontically induced inflammatory root resorption is an inevitable consequence of orthodontic treatment. Accompanied uncontrollable and clinically suspected root resorption can be observed. The teeth showing severe resorption raise doubts in terms of stability in bone, function against the forces of chewing and long-term ability to take part in the dentition clinically. Severe root resorption cases were prompted researchers to assess clinical treatment approaches related to this issue and the applicability of them. For reporting effective results of these experimental studies, examining and understanding the cellular formation and the repair mechanisms of root resorption in details are important. The aim of this review was to explain the formation and the repair mechanisms of orthodontically induced inflammatory root resorption and to summarize recommended pharmacological approaches for prevention and treatment of orthodontically induced inflammatory root resorption
