Bu araştırmanın amacı; bağlam içerisinde kelime öğretim yöntembilimi ile hazırlanmış web-tabanlı İngilizce kelime öğretim materyalinin aralıklı tekrarlar ‘spaced repetition’ ile öğrenciler üzerindeki etkisini ve sistemin kelimelerin kalıcılığını uzun vadede destekleyip desteklemediğini araştırmaktır. Bağlam içerisindeki kelimelerin sunumları işitsel ve çokluortam kaynakları ile desteklenmiş ve kelimelerin hatırda kalıcılığı için de web-tabanlı öğrenme ortamında aralıklı tekrar yönteminden faydalanılmıştır. Bu materyalin kullanılmasının öğrencilerde kelimelerin sonradan hatırlanması açısından olumlu açıdan fark yaratacağı düşünülmektedir.

The research issue, in this study, centers on what underlining factors contribute to effectiveness of a supplementary webbased vocabulary teaching tool. The researcher focuses on the effectiveness of one vocabulary teaching technique, which is the use of context to teach a word. The contextual presentation of the words is enriched with audio and visual multimedia resources and the retention of the words is enhanced with ‘spaced repetitions’ in a web-supported environment. It is believed that the appication of the web-based material would improve students learning and retention of English vocabulary
