Phaselis’ten İmparator Lucius Verus İçin Yeni Bir Adak Yazıtı

2012 yılı Phaselis Antik Kenti ve Teritoryumu yüzey araştırmaları sırasında, Güney Liman ile akropolis’in güneybatı etekleri arasında, Hadrianus Kapısı’ndan Güney Liman’a giden modern patikanın yanındaki geç dönem duvarının yakınında iki parçaya ayrılmış şekilde bir yazıt tespit edilmiştir. Söz konusu yazıt, Phaselis’lilerin kent ve halk meclisi tarafından İmparator Lucius Aurelius Verus’a ilişkin yapılan heykel adaması hakkındaki metni içerir. Kentin böyle bir adakta bulunmasının sebebi, İmparator’un doğu seferi sırasında kente gelmesi ya da geleceğine ilişkin beklentidir. Buradaki makale, Lucius Verus’un 162-166 yılları arasında gerçekleştirdiği doğu seferi sırasında, Küçük Asya’nın güney sahilinde yer alan Phaselis’e uğraması ve kentin bu yönde yaptığı hazırlığı ele alır. Söz konusu yazıtın içeriği, Phaselis’te tespit edilen bazı yayınlı yazıtların yeniden ele alınmasını gerekli kılmaktadır. Dolayısıyla makale, imparatorun kente gelişinin yanında, yayınlanmış olan bazı yazıtların yeniden değerlendirilmelerini içermektedir.

Phaselis’ten İmparator Lucius Verus İçin Yeni Bir Adak Yazıtı

During the 2012 survey campaign conducted in Phaselis on the south shore of Asia Minor an inscription broken into two pieces was found between the south harbour and the south-west mountainside of the acropolis, on the side of the wall near the modern path leading from Hadrian’s Gate towards the south harbour. The inscription, a votive offering to emperor Lucius Aurelius Verus, was dedicated by the boule and demos of Phaseleites. It mentions a visit (epibaterion) of the emperor to the city, probably during his Eastern Campaigns, as the reason for the dedication. The article looks into the stopover of Lucius Verus in Phaselis during the years 162–166 and the city’s preparations for it. Some previously published inscriptions from the city are re-examined in the light of the new document.
