DEVELOPING A CRITICAL APPROACH IN THE FIELD OF MANAGEMENT: THE ROLE OF THE MANAGEMENT FASHION
When we examine the discourses related to the field of management from past to
present, it is seen that scientific management discourses that emphasize efficiency,
efficiency and rationalization first come to the forefront. Then, normative
discourses that emphasize the psychosocial needs of employees are introduced. At
this point, it is seen that normative discourses affect the management techniques,
after a while they become management fashion and are applied without question.
In addition, it is seen that management fashion is adopted as a management
technique without criticism by enterprises and academics, and after a short period
of upswing, it declines and then new management fashion is adopted and this
cycle repeats itself. Therefore, the reasons for the emergence and diffusion of
management discourses, which actors spread these discourses, the effect of
discourses on enterprises and employees, and the effect of management
discourses on developing a critical approach make this subject worthy of
research. In addition, it is seen that these discourses affect the researches and the
discourses about the administration are applied without question and these
discourses are criticized by very few researches and when the studies are
reviewed, they should be criticized. In this sense, the aim of this study is to reveal
the effects of management fashion discourses on a critical perspective and to
discuss the criticisms.
