Soğuk Savaş döneminde az gelişmiş üçüncü dünya statüsünde olan Çin ve Hindistan 20 yüzyılın son çeyreğindeart arda ekonomik reform politikalarını hayata geçirmeye başlamış, hızlı büyüme gerçekleştirerek günümüzdedünya ekonomisi ve siyasetine yön verebilecek büyük güç statüsüne yükselmiştir. Oldukça hızlı büyümekte olanekonomisi, gittikçe artmakta olan milyonlarca orta sınıfı, sanayi, bilgi ve teknolojisiyle Amerika ve Avrupa gibigelişmiş ülkelere rakip olarak ortaya çıkmaktadır. Bu çalışmada öncelikle, Çin ve Hindistan 'ın takip ettiği farklıekonomik model ve politikalarının ülkelerinin gelişmesini nasıl etkilediği incelenmiştir. Reform öncesi vesonrasındaki gelişmeleri karşılaştırılarak iktisat politikaları ve takip ettiği stratejilerin ülkenin ekonomikkalkınmasındaki önemi tartışılmıştır. Son olarak iki ülke arasındaki farklı gelişme performansına sebep olanunsurlar hakkında değerlendirme yapılmıştır.

ROLE OF ECONOMIC POLICIES IN DEVELOPMENT S OF CHINA AND INDIA

China and India began to implement eeonomie reforms during the last quarter of the 20th century and their aehieved fast eeonomie developments and this made them one of the few injluential powers in world politics and economics, while they were considered to be poor and undeveloped third world eountries during the Cold War period. They has been emerged as rival powers to Ameriea and Europe by fast growing economies, inereasing middle class by millions in number, industry, seienee and teehnological developments. In this paper, first of all analyzed how different eeonomie polieies and models played crucial role in developments of China and India. After that, it evaluated the effeets of eeonomie polieies and strategies in developments of national eeonomy by comparison pre and post reform experience of China and India. Last not but list, the faetors whieh determined widening the gap of development performance between two eountries were deliberated.
