Points to be Considered in Functional Evaluation of the Lower Urinary Tract by Using Uroflovmetry

Uroflowmetry is one of the most commonly used diagnostic test that givesrelatively objective information about the lower urinary tract function.Uroflowmetry is the first-line diagnostic test in the diagnosis of lower urinarytract disorders. The results of uroflowmetry may be affected by various factors. This review underlines key points for better standardization and optimal use ofuroflowmetry: The conditions that request of uroflowmetry test, the conditionsthat affecting the accuracy of uroflowmetry results, points that the patient shouldpay attention for regarding bladder fullness, ensuring the patient privacy, featuresof the uroflowmetry room, uroflowmetry devices and calibration, evaluation ofuroflowmetry test, responsibilities of the nurse in uroflowmetry procedure. Thus,we aim to obtain higher standards in nursing practices and patient care in ourcountry.
