EVALUATION OF TECTONIC STRUCTURE OF TURKEY BY USING GRAVITY DATA
The main structural discontinuities of Turkey are addressed using gravity data in this study. In the study, total horizontal gradient technique was used to reveal the lineaments. This technique is applied to first vertical derivative values of regional gravity data that calculated from the Bouguer gravity data of Turkey. When the structural discontinuities belonging to the region are determined, the maximum amplitude values of the total horizontal derivation map are utilized. The determined lineaments are compared with existing faults in the region. New boundaries of discontinuity have been found with good harmony between this work and previous studies. In this study, results were obtained to guide the work to be done in order to better understand the geological structure of the region. It is believed that the results of the study can be a guide in determining risky places in Turkey in terms of earthquake.
