Geleneksel yığma yapım sistemlerinin yerini, karkas yapıların alması ile düşey taşıyıcı elemanların kesitinin azalması sonucu işlevine uygun konfor koşullarının sağlanması için yapı elemanlarında ısı yalıtımı yapılması gerekmiştir. Binalarda kullanılan enerjinin, toplam enerji tüketimindeki payının büyüklüğü ve bunun önemli bir kısmının da ısıtmada kullanılması, ısı yalıtımının önemini açıkça göstermektedir. Doğadaki sınırlı kaynaklardan, çok yüksek maliyetle elde edilen enerjinin bilinçli kullanılması, ekonomi ve çevre kirliliği bakımından gelecek için önemli bir sorumluluktur. İyi yalıtılmış bir ortamda, doğru seçilmiş yakıt türü ve iyi bir yakma tekniği ile harcanan enerjinin hemen hemen tamamı ısıtma amaçlı kullanılabilir ve yakıtın çevre kirliliğine etkisi minimum düzeye indirilebilir.

Changes in the conventional structure materials forces to consider mainly the new heat isolation techniques and materials. In a good isolated environment, the consumed energy can be used for heating almost entirely by selection of fuel type and proper burning technology and so the efffect of fuel to environmental pollution can be reduced to minimum level.
