2005 Yılında artış hızı azalmasına rağmen iç ve dış borçlar yüksek seviyesini korumaktadır. Bu borç seviyesinin sürdürülebilmesi için devlet topladığı vergi gelirlerinin büyük bölümünü faiz ödemelerine ayırmak zorunda kalmaktadır. Yıllardan beri devam eden bu durum, gelir dağılımını bozmakta, nüfusun büyük bölümünün yaşam standartlarına göre çok düşük gelirle geçinme durumunda kalmasına neden olmaktadır. Bu durum aynı zamanda, yoksulluğun yüksek seviyede devam etmesine yol açan nedenler arasında yer almaktadır. Sonuçta gasp, hırsızlık vb. gibi mali suçlar artmakta ve sosyal bünyede tahribat giderek önemli boyutlara yükselmektedir.

In order to maintain this debt level, government has to allocate most of its tax revenues to interest payments. This situation damages the income distribution and forces most of the population to live in a lower income class. This situation can be considered as the reason for high level of poverty. As a consequence, theft and fiscal offences have been increasing and the damage in the social structure has been escalating significantly.
