Bu çalışmada, Kıbrıs tarihinde önemli bir yere sahip olan ve I. Barış Harekâtı sırasında Gazimağusaya bağlı Baykal bölgesinden Kale İçi’ne geçişi sağlayan tünel ile ilgili yapılmış olan derlemelerle tünelin yapımı, yapımı sırasında çalışan kişiler, tünel yapımı için malzeme temini konusunda tarafımızdan derlenen bilgiler verilmiş, ardından tünelin Uygulamalı Halkbilimi Müzesi’ne dünüştürülme süreci uygulamalı halkbilimi Çalışmaları doğrultusunda ele alınmış, yıkılmaya yüz tutmuş ve unutulmuş olan tünelin Uygulamalı Halkbilimi bağlamında Kıbrıs Türk toplumuna hem sosyal hem de ekonomik vb. birçok katkı yapabileceği ortaya konmaya çalışılmıştır.

This study attempted to provide details abouth the tunnel which has an important place in Cyprus history and which provided a crossing from Famagusta-Baykal area into the City Wall. This study provides information abouth the constraction of the tunnel and the workers during its constraction period and the way in which the constraction materials were obtained. In addition, all the stages of turning the tunnnel into an Aplied Folklore Museum are taken into consideration. This study further attemted to present that as an Applied Folklore Museum, this tunnel which was long forgotten and almost collapsed, will have great contribution both socially and economically to the Turkish Cypriot society.
