GÖÇ, ENTEGRASYON VE EĞİTİM EKSENİ: BİRLEŞİK KRALLIK’TAKİ TÜRKLER

1960’lardan bu yana, göçmen ve mültecilerin yerleştikleri ülkelere entegrasyonu Kuzey Amerika ve Batı Avrupa’daki gelişmiş ülkeler için önemli bir toplumsal ve siyasal konu / problem haline gelmiştir. Bu konu üzerine yazılan çok sayıdaki resmi rapor, akademik makale ve kitap göçmenlerin ve mültecilerin yerleşilen ülkeye entegre olmasının demokratik refah devletinin, toplumsal uyum ve dayanışmanın devamlılığı bakımından hayati öneme sahip olduğunun altını ısrarlı ve kuvvetli bir şekilde çizmişlerdir. Bu çalışma eğitime eşit erişim hakkının, aktif katılımın ve başarının entegrasyon için kritik öneme sahip olduğunu Birleşik Krallık’taki Türk kökenli toplulukların entegrasyon süreçlerindeki rolü üzerinden ele almaktadır. Türklerin eğitimde görece olarak daha başarısız olmalarının sebebi aile-ebeveyn, okul, ve etnik topluluk olarak üç temel faktöre dayanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, sonuç olarak, diğer etnik kökenli topluluklara nazaran Türklerin görece daha yavaş entegre olmalarında eğitimdeki başarısızlıklarının en başat etken olduğu gerçeği vurgulanmaktadır.

MIGRATION, INTEGRATION AND EDUCATION NEXUS: TURKS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM

Since the 1960s, the integration of immigrants and refugees into the countries of residence has become an important social and political issue / problem for the advanced countries in North America and Western Europe. Numerous official reports and numerous academic articles and books on this subject have insisted and strongly emphasized that the integration of immigrants and refugees into the country of residence is vital for the continuity of the democratic welfare state and social cohesion and solidarity. This study underlines the role of equal access to education, active participation and educational success are critical to integration through focuing on Turkish-origin communities’ integration processes in the UK. The reason why Turks are relatively less successful in education is based on three basic factors as family-parent, school, and ethnic community. As a result, it is emphasized that the failure in education is the main factor in the relatively slow integration of Turks compared to other ethnic origin communities in the UK.
