Kutsalın tecrübesi kadar kutsala yönelik inanışlar insan yaşamında oldukça önemlidir. Dini kaynaklara dayalı dinsel söylemin temelinin kutsala ilişkin tanımlamalara yönelik olduğu dikkat çekicidir. Yalnızca geleneksel olarak din şeklinde tanımlanan inanç sistemlerinde değil insanla ilgili her durumda kutsalın bir şekilde tezahür ettiği görülür. Kutsala ilişkin anlatıyı ifade eden mitoslar da dinsel söylemde oldukça önemlidir. Mitosların genelde pozitivist paradigma doğrultusunda tanımlanıp kullanılması mitosların doğru anlaşılması yönünde bir sorun üretmiştir. 

The beliefs as well as the experience of the sacred are quite important in human life. It is noticeable that the focus of the religious discource which is mainly based on the religious sources is about the description of the sacred. Not only in the belief systems which are called religion in traditional meaning but in every case related to human being, it is seen that the sacred somehow manifests. The myths which are the stories of the sacred are also quite important in religious discourse. The usage and description of the myth according to the positivist paradigm has been an obstacle in true/proper understanding of the myths.
