Yahudileri toplumsal ve ekonomik çöküntüden kurtarmak, onları Yahudi kimliğiyle Batılılaştırmak ve toplumsal özgürleşmeyi gerçekleştirmek amacıyla 1860’da Paris’te kurulan Alliance Israélite Universelle (AIU), Yahudi toplumunu kısa bir süre içerisinde ciddi bir dönüşüme uğratmıştır. Batı tarzı bir eğitim sistemi ile başta Kuzey Afrika ve Ortadoğu olmak üzere dünyanın pek çok yerinde okullar açan teşkilatın faaliyetlerinin en geniş kısmını Osmanlı Devleti toprakları oluşturmuştur. AIU’in sistemli ve örgütlü çabası neticesinde geleneksel eğitim sistemi çökmüş, yerini Alliance ideolojisini benimsemiş Fransızca konuşan yeni nesiller almıştır. Bu makalede, AIU’ın İstanbul’da açmış olduğu okulları, Yahudi cemaatine ve Türk toplumuna etkilerini ele almaya çalışacağız.

Alliance Israélite Universelle (AIU) succeded a serious change in Jewish society. It was established in Paris in 1860 in order to  protect Jews from social and economic corruption and to westernize them while conserving the Jewish identity and  to realize their social freedom . It  established many schools which adopted western style in education in North Africa and Middle East and  mostly in  the lands which were under the authority of Ottoman realm.With the  systematic and organized efforts of AIU, traditional education system collapsed and it was replaced by the new  French speaking generations who adopted the ideology of  AIU. In this paper  the schools which were established by  AIU in Istanbul and their influence on Turkish and Jewish society wil be discussed.
