Hybrid machine systems: Configurations and analysis: A survey

A hybrid machine is a typical mechatronic device that can be used to generate motion and it gathers the motions of a large constant speed motor with a small servo motor via a mechanical linkage mechanism. The name ‘hybrid actuation’ or ‘hybrid machine’ comes from such architecture of the actuation system. Its main purpose is to form a powerful programmable drive system. The study presents an overview on hybrid machines, proposed configurations, analysis and improvements during last 20 years. Studies on the subject are still continuing. The purpose of the study is to show applicability of this system and to present it as an alternative for motion generation.
