VILLANIA'NIN (AMMONOIDEA) TÜRKİYE'DEKİ VARLIĞI HAKKINDA

Türkiye'deki varlığı ilk kez saptanan Villania bugüne değin Macaristan'a özgü bilinen bir ammonit cinsidir. Bilecik yöresinde bulunan iki örnek, Villania cf. densilobata Till ve Villania sp., bu cinsin coğrafik dağılımının sanıldığından çok daha geniş olduğunu kanıtlamaktadır. Dikkate değer bir husus Villania Till ve Epideroceras Spath'm benzer bir ontojenetik gelişim göstermeleri, sütur çizgilerinin bir örnek olması ve her iki cinsin de Türkiye'de jamesoni zonunda (Alt Pliyensbahiyen) bulunmalarıdır.

ON THE PRESENCE OF VILLANIA (AMMONOIDEA) IN TURKEY

The genus Villania so far known only from Hungary is recorded for the first time from Turkey. Two specimens found in the Bilecik region, identified as Villania cf. densilobata and Villania sp., prove that Villania had wider geographical distribution than that had been thought. It is also remarkable that Villania Till and Epideroceras Spath show similar ontogenetic development, their suture lines are identical, and they are both present in the Jamesoni zone (Lower Pliensbachian) in Turkey.
